The first thing I do when going to a mall is to dump my empties at the recycle bin in the Origins store. Every single Origins store and counter have a recycle bin. Not only are their products natural, they also supports earth friendly practices and all the sales reps I met are knowledgeable and nice. They recently implemented a rewards program where you can earn points to redeem for products, and recycle counts for points as well! I previously used Origins 95% Organic toner, United States toner and A Perfect World. Since I enjoyed them, the sales rep made samples of two treatment lotions she think I’d like for me to try.
Origin has a category for toner and a category for treatment lotion. Toners are more lightweight and for oily/combination skin while treatment lotions are more hydrating and for combination/dry skin. Basically they are the same step in your skincare routine. I accidentally recycled my full size of United States toner before this picture (it’s here in spirit?).
My take: The lotion has the same fruity scent as the rest of A Perfect World line. It is a moisturizing toner and leaves a bit of moisturizing residue on the skin, probably due to the various citrus oils. It is a bit stuffy for my combination skin in the summer. If you have oily skin, then you might not even need a moisturizer afterwards. If you have dry skin and is looking for something to help with first sign of aging, then this treatment lotion is great with its blend of moisturizing oil and antiaging white tea extract.
Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil*, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil*, Cinnamomum Camphora (Camphor) Bark Oil*, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil*, Magnolia Acuminata Flower Extract, Iris Pallida (Orris) Root Extract, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Extract, Citral, Linalool, Limonene, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Thermus Thermophillus Ferment, Trehalose, Sorbitol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylyl Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Hexylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol
My take: The lotion has an herbal scent same as the rest of the Mega-Mushroom line. It is lightweight, more of a watery toner than lotion, and has a barely noticeable refreshing/tingling sensation on the skin when applied. My skin feels refreshed, hydrated and clean with no residue afterwards. It does contain mushroom and aloe vera extract to calm as well as a variety of other plant extract to moisturize. Because it is so lightweight, I’d say it’s appropriate for all skin type.
Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol; Peg-4; Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Boswellia Carterii (Olibanum) Oil, Limonene, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol; Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Ganoderma Lucidum (Reishi Mushroom) Extract, Fuscoporia Obliqua Extract, Cordyceps Sinensis (Mushroom) Extract, Ocimum Sanctum (Holy Basil) Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Silybum Marianum Fruit Extract, Sucrose, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trideceth-9, Glycerin, Glycereth-26, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocotrienols, Pentylene Glycol, Tocopherol, Sodium Hydroxide, Squalene, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Phytosterols, Citric Acid, Cellulose, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol.
My take: It’s a toning lotion with a light floral scent same as Original Skin Retexturizing Rose Clay mask, which I enjoy. The liquid has a bit of slip so it feels like essence or liquidy lotion rather than watery toner. However, it absorbs well leaving no residue. My skin feels soft and moisturized. If you have dry skin and want something lightweight, I would actually recommend this instead of A Perfect World
Ingredients: Water\Aqua\Eau, Alcohol Denat., Butylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Peg-75, Polysorbate 20, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil*, Amyris Balsamifera Bark Oil*, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil*, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil*, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, Limonene, Linalool, Methyl Gluceth-20, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower\Leaf\Stem Extract, Castanea Sativa (Chestnut) Seed Extract, Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract, Salicylic Acid, Caffeine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glycerin, Molasses Extract\Saccharum Officinarum\Extrait De Mélasse, Phytosphingosine, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Silica, Tromethamine, Yeast Extract\Faex\Extrait De Levure, Hexylene Glycol, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Mica, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491)
My take: It has a strong scent of alcohol but does not irritate or dry out my combination skin. It feels refreshing and leaves the skin feeling clean. Back when I had oily/combination skin, I used Clinique Toner 2. This is less drying/harsh but just as refreshing and good at oil control. If you want a toner that leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshing but is alcohol free, then I recommend Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris instead.

Overall they are pretty nice. If you want something moisturizing I would recommend Original Skin. If you want something hydrating and calming but lightweight, then the Dr. Weil Mushroom is great. If you want oil-control and clean without drying out your skin, United State is awesome. While Dior Toning Lotion with Velvet Peony is my holy grail and Lancome Tonique Douceur the runner-up, I would buy Dr. Weil or United States when there is a good Origins coupon.
