My favorite part of summer are the fresh fruits and sunny weather. Least favorite part? is that my face always get sweaty and oily by the end of the day. For some people, switching from winter to summer skincare is just switching to a lighter moisturizer. For me, it also involves switching my cleanser from something hydrating to something more purifying for the pores and help with sun damage.
Two of my favorite summer cleansers are Peter Thomas Roth Anti-aging Cleansing Gel and Murad Essential-C Cleanser. PTR helps with anti-aging and pores via a blend of glycolic, salicylic acid and citrus extracts; while Murad helps with anti-aging by protecting against environmental and sun damage with vitamin A, C and E.
ps. So the When giveaway has ended, congratulations to Emma for winning the masks and thanks to everyone who participated! It was nice reading your comment and there will be another bigger giveaway at end of the year. =D
Peter Thomas Roth Anti-aging Cleansing Gel
Description: Oil-free, anti-wrinkle technology helps to clarify and brighten with glycolic acid, salicylic acid etc. An advanced deep pore resurfacing action supports natural cell turnover to help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. It helps to effectively detoxify the pores, dissolve makeup, emulsify oil, and improve skin texture as it gently sweeps away dead skin cells and impurities that can make the complexion appear dull.
Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Coco-Glucoside, Propylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid (Beta Hydroxy Acid), Glycolic Acid/Arginine, Peach Fruit Extract, White Oak Bark Extract, Lemon Fruit Extract, Lime Fruit Extract, Linden Flower Extract, Grapefruit Fruit Extract, Citric Acid, Citrus Bioflavonoids, Allantoin, Methylparaben, Quaternium-15, Red #40, Yellow #5, Fragrance.
My take: It is a gel cleanser with a fruity scent. It foams a little bit and cleanses well, but it stings a little and feels uncomfortable on irritated skin. It makes my skin feel super clean, no matter how dirty or oily my skin was before, but it is slightly drying. I would not recommend it for sensitive or dry skin, but it’s great for oily, acne-prone or combo skin. I always use a makeup remover before a cleanser, but this is cleansing enough that I can skip the makeup remover if I’m just wearing a layer of powder and some sunscreen.
Murad Essential-C Cleanser
Description: Essential-C Cleanser’s patented antioxidant-rich formula removes environmental impurities, rehydrates, and awakens the senses with a burst of citrus. Phospholipids and sodium PCA attract and bind moisture to dry skin, while a combination of vitamins A, C, and E defend skin from free radical damage. Allantoin and panthenol work to soothe environmentally stressed skin.
Ingredients: Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Aminomethyl Propanol, Polysorbate 20, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Panthenol, Phospholipids, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid, Chitosan, Rice Amino Acids, Zinc Aspartate, Allantoin, Sodium PCA, Lactose, Cellulose, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Propyl Gallate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Limonene, Linalool, Orange Oil, Mandarin Orange Peel Oil, Basil Oil, Grapefruit Peel Oil, Galbanum Resin Oil, Fragrance, Iron Oxides (CI 77492).
My take: It is a gel cleanser with a mild citrus scent. The gel cleanser doesn’t foam, but it does cleanse well. My skin feels clean and super smooth afterwards. It didn’t leave any residue on my skin, but it was hydrating and comfortable even when my skin is irritated. It’s not drying at all and can be used by all skin type at any time.
Murad Essential+C Cleanser is hydrating and great for all skin types while Peter Thomas Roth Anti-aging Cleansing Gel is a bit more exfoliating/drying and is better for oily/normal or acne-prone skin. Both are great if you are bored of basic cleansers and want a good cleanser that gives your skin a boost. I use Murad when my skin is parched and I use PTR when my skin feel all clogged up and oily. So, what is your favorite summer cleanser?
